How to Choose a Coffee Roaster in the UAE
Buying coffee online in the UAE has never been easier, but more choice doesn't always mean better coffee. A beautiful bag can still hold beans that were roasted months ago on the other side of the world.
We roast in Dubai, so we spend a lot of time thinking about what makes coffee taste good by the time it reaches your cup. Here's what we'd look for if we were choosing a roaster, and how to make the most of your beans once they arrive.
Why Buy From a Specialty Roaster?
Supermarket coffee is usually roasted in large batches, often abroad, and can sit in warehouses and on shelves for months. A specialty roaster buys specialty-grade green coffee, roasts in smaller batches and sells it while it's fresh.
Buying from a roaster also gets you the details you rarely find on a supermarket shelf: where the coffee was grown, how it was processed and what it actually tastes like.

What to Look For in a Coffee Roaster
Roasted close to home. Coffee roasted in the UAE spends less time travelling, so it reaches you fresher.
Clear origin and process. Every coffee should list its country, its process (washed, natural or honey) and its tasting notes.
A focused range. A small lineup that changes with the seasons usually means each coffee was chosen with care, not stocked to fill a shelf.
Coffee for how you brew. Look for coffees marked for espresso or filter, so you're not guessing what suits your machine or V60.
Packaging that protects. Opaque bags with a one-way valve keep out light and air.
Fair delivery. Check what delivery costs, and whether regular orders or subscriptions ship free.
Real reviews. See what other customers say about flavour and delivery.
Whole Beans or Drip Bags?
Whole beans stay fresh longer than ground coffee and let you grind for your brewer. They're the right choice if you have a grinder or an espresso machine.
If you don't, try drip bags. Our UFO Drip Bags hold 14g of coffee each, are nitrogen packed, and brew a full mug with just hot water, at home, in the office or in a hotel room.
Getting the Most From Your Beans at Home
Grind just before brewing: ground coffee loses its aroma within minutes.
Use filtered water: heated to around 93°C, just off the boil.
Start with a simple ratio: 15g of coffee to 225ml of water (1:15), then adjust to taste.
Store it well: keep beans sealed, somewhere cool and dark, and out of the fridge.
Slow down for the first sip: see if you can taste the notes on the bag. It gets easier with every cup.

How We Do It at Cozy Cat Coffee
We roast in Dubai in small batches and deliver across the UAE. Our lineup is deliberately small: a few seasonal origins, our house blends and one decaf, each with its origin, process and tasting notes on the page. Every coffee is marked for espresso, filter or both, so you know what suits your setup.
If you'd rather not think about reordering, our subscription delivers every 2, 4 or 6 weeks with 10% off and free delivery. Cancel anytime.
Choosing a roaster comes down to freshness, honesty about what's in the bag, and coffee you genuinely enjoy. Start with one bag, and let your taste lead the way.
